Castello di Thiene
Art and Gastronomy use a few carefully selected hotels in Bassano such the family-owned Hotel Belvedere and the Hotel
al Castello. Both of these hotels offer central locations and wonderful views of the town.
I also use a fifteenth century palazzo called the Castello di Thiene just a few miles away in the town of Thiene.
This magnificent family-owned hotel has been in the same ownership since 1450 and the present Contessa, Francesca di
Thiene, will be your host.
The second owner of the palazzo was the famous condottiero, Colleoni, which explains its castle-like appearance.
There are 12,000 square metres of stunning gardens, a well by Palladio and one of the most beautiful stables (scuderia) in
the world. It is literally a fairy tale brought to life.
To get a better idea of this special place take a look at the website:
If the Castello di Thiene is being used during your tour the Contessa will serve a gala dinner in the principal dining hall of the palazzo on one of the evenings.
